Our studio philosophy centers on the intersection of utility and grace, ensuring every design narrative is uniquely tailored to the lifestyles of our clients.
We started with a simple belief, that a well-designed space can genuinely change how someone feels at home.
VR & Co is a young studio, but the people behind it are not new to this. Between Vanita and Rohit, there are 30 years of experience walking into spaces and knowing, almost immediately, what they need. That instinct takes time to build. We’re glad we get to put it to work here.
We work across residential and commercial spaces. Our process is unhurried and collaborative, built around getting to know the people we’re designing for before we ever pick up a pencil. Some of our best decisions have come out of a second or third conversation, not the first.

Vanita has spent 15 years designing spaces that feel considered without feeling overdone. Her work has always started with people first and materials second, which means her interiors tend to feel personal in a way that’s hard to put a finger on but impossible to miss. She started VR & CO because she wanted to build something that reflected how she actually believes design should work: slowly, carefully and always in service of the person living in it.

Rohit Shettigar
Rohit brings 15 years of experience in project management and material science to every project, which means the things that look effortless usually aren’t. He’s the reason a beautiful detail actually holds up years later, and the reason a timeline gets met without corners being cut. Where Vanita asks what a space should feel like, Rohit asks how it’s going to get built and whether it will last. That balance is, quietly, one of the best things about working with VR & CO.

Philosophy
Aesthetics
We are not chasing trends, and we’re not rejecting them either. We’re trying to find what actually belongs in a space, for the people who will live or work in it, at this point in their lives. That takes longer than pulling from a mood board. But the results tend to feel more like them, and less like a magazine.

Foundation
Structure
A beautiful room that doesn’t function is just a photograph. We spend a lot of time on the parts of a project no one will notice until something feels off. The flow between rooms, the way light changes through the day, the decision not to add something. Good bones make everything else possible. And with Rohit involved, those bones are very, very good.

Clients
We ask a lot of questions early on, and we mean it when we say no question is too small. Tell us about the dog. Tell us about the dinner parties and the drawer full of things with nowhere to go. The more we understand how you actually live, the better we can design around it. And honestly, we just enjoy those conversations.

Materials & Craft
We work with makers who care. Not always the most expensive ones, but the most considered ones. A finish or a joinery detail is never just a visual choice. It’s about longevity, about repairability, about what a space will feel like years from now when the initial excitement has settled. Getting that right is something we take quite personally, and it shows.
We begin every new project with a conversation. No forms, no packages, no tiers. Just a straightforward talk about your space, your timeline, and what you’re hoping to end up with. Space Planning and Concept Design
Sometimes what a project needs most is clarity before anything else. A clear sense of how a space should flow, what it should feel like, ad what it’s actually trying to do. We offer a concept design and space planning as a starting point for clients who are early in their process and want to think things through properly before committing to anything. This is often where the most important decisions get made, and we find that the time spent here almost always pays for itself later.

What we do
Every project we take on is different. The brief is different, the space is different, the people are different. But the way we work stays the same. We listen first, we ask questions second, and we start designing only once we feel like we actually understand what a space needs to become. Below is a sense of what we work on. RESIDENTIAL DESIGN
Homes are the most personal spaces we get to work on, and we treat them that way. Whether it’s a full redesign, a single room, or a new space being built from scratch, we approach every home project by thinking about the people who will live in it long before we think about anything else. We’ve worked on city apartments, family homes, and everything in between. What they all have in common is that they were designed for real life. Not for a photoshoot, not for a showroom. For mornings that run late and evenings that go long and everything that go long and everything happens in between.
Commercial and Hospitality Design
Commercial spaces carry a different kind of responsibility. They need to work hard, hold up overtime, and still feel like somewhere people actually want to be. That balance is something we think about a lot. We’ve designed for restaurants where the atmosphere is as much a part of the experience as the food, for offices where the layout quietly shapes how people collaborate, and for retail spaces where every surface is doing a job. Our background in material science and engineering means that what we specify is always chosen with longevity and performance in mind, not just appearance.
Materials, Finishes and Sourcing
This is where our expertise becomes something clients genuinely feel in the finished space. We put a lot of care into specifying materials that are beautiful, honest about what they are, and built to last. We work with trusted suppliers and craftspeople and we’re happy to explain every choice we make, because we think you should know exactly what’s going into your space and why.
Project Management and Site Coordination
We stay involve through construction and installation, not just through the drawing stage. For clients who want a single point of contact from concept to completion, we offer full project management. That means coordinating with contractors, keeping timelines on track, and making sure that what gets built actually matches what was designed. It sounds like a small thing. It isn’t.
